Hudson's Seafood House on the Docks has been serving Hilton Head Island since 1967, making it one of the oldest continuously operating seafood restaurants on the South Carolina coast. The location on Skull Creek is the whole point: Hudson's sits directly on the working docks, and the kitchen sources its shrimp, fish, oysters, and blue crabs from the same local fishermen who have supplied it for decades. On a good afternoon you can watch the boats unload while you wait for a table. The menu is unapologetically traditional — fried shrimp platters, steamed blue crabs, oysters on the half shell, she-crab soup, and Lowcountry boil — executed with the consistency that only comes from doing the same thing well for nearly sixty years. The atmosphere is dock-casual: no white tablecloths, no pretense, just fresh seafood and water views. Sunset from the outdoor deck over Skull Creek is one of the better free shows on the island.
