The Town of Hilton Head Island has closed Islanders Beach Park for a full improvement project. The closure covers the entire park — parking lot, restrooms, showers, beach access boardwalk, and all associated facilities. The park is expected to reopen by June 1, 2027, ahead of the 2027 summer season.

Dog beach hours

Dogs restricted to early morning and evening hours (March – September)

From March through September, dogs are only permitted on all Hilton Head beaches before 10 AM and after 5 PM. Dogs must be on a leash at all times, year-round. From October through February, dogs may be on the beach at any time.

Seasonal paid parking

Paid parking at Coligny, Driessen, Folly Field, and Islanders Beach Park (Memorial Day – Labor Day)

The Town of Hilton Head Island charges seasonal parking fees at four beach parks from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Rates are approximately $2/hour with a $10/day maximum. All lots are free the rest of the year. Islanders Beach Park is closed for improvements through May 31, 2027.

Sea turtle nesting season

Sea turtle nesting season active May – October

Loggerhead sea turtle nesting season runs May through October. Nests are marked with stakes and orange tape — give them a wide berth. Lights visible from the beach are prohibited during nesting season. The Sea Turtle Patrol offers guided beach walks during the season.
